What I love about smoothies and smoothie bowls is how simple and quick it is to create – It’s heavenly!  It’s just so darn easy to make this Mixed Berry Smoothie Bowl and it should be part of everyone’s breakfast.  It’s like a superfood because it’s packed with antioxidants and other nutrients! 

Quick and easy, this 5-minute super berry smoothie bowl is loaded with banana, almond milk, and a mixed batch of strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries. Top it off with fully customizable toppings including granola, chia seeds, shredded coconut, and toasted seeds. Your breakfast never looked prettier! Add more protein by adding a handful of spinach before blending for a superpower breakfast.

What is a Smoothie Bowl you ask?

So, I like to consider myself a self-proclaimed smoothie addict. Throw any combination of fruit in there and I will devour every last drop. I have made all kinds of smoothies and this past summer I wanted to do a smoothie bowl. I get asked a lot – what’s the difference between a smoothie and a smoothie bowl. A smoothie bowl is pretty much the same thing as a smoothie except it’s thicker and eaten with a spoon. No your eyes aren’t deceiving you – you don’t drink it, you eat it. It’s like having a bowl of “nice cream” in the morning! And who doesn’t love to eat nice cream?

One of the best things about making smoothies or a smoothie bowl is the fact that all you need to do is invest 5 minutes of your time and 5-6 basic ingredients, which I’m sure you already have in your fridge. Simple right?

How to make this 5-min Mixed Berry Smoothie Bowl

Gather all your ingredients, and get ready to indulge. It’s super easy – All you need to do is combine the smoothie ingredients into your blender and pour it out into a bowl. Can it get any easier than that??

Next, for my favourite part, you can add so many different toppings and decorate this delicious smoothie bowl. I topped my bowl with slices of strawberry and banana, flaked coconut, white chia seeds and my favorite…homemade granola. You can also use toasted pumpkin seeds, I use homemade granola because it just tastes so much better. My favourites are:

So… you just made a wonderful breakfast and all it took was a total of 5 minutes. This basically means you can enjoy this bowl anytime, anywhere. Are you crunched for time in the morning? No problem, make a Mixed Berry Smoothie Bowl. Need a healthy work snack? No problem, make a Mixed Berry Smoothie Bowl. Need a filling but low-carb lunch option? No problem, make a Mixed Berry Smoothie Bowl. How about a dessert that is actually healthy? I think you know the answer to that!

Total Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 frozen banana, sliced
  • 1 heaping Cup of frozen mixed berries (or use one type)
  • 1/4 - 1/2 Cup unsweetened coconut or Almond milk
  • 1 Tbsp. shredded coconut
  • 1/2 of a banana
  • White Chia seeds
  • Granola, strawberries, raspberries, black raspberries, and/or blueberries

Instructions

1.    Place frozen berries and banana in a blender, blending on low until only small pieces
remain. If you prefer smoother, continue blending until smooth.

2.    Add a small amount of almond or coconut milk and protein powder (if desired).

3.    Continue blending, making sure to scrape down the sides, until you have a nice
soft-serve consistency.

4.    Scoop into a bowl, using the above toppings.

5.    Garnish with chia seeds, banana, coconut flakes, granola, or more fruit
